The South Luzon leg of the “Tayo ang Good Gov Generation: Kabataan Para Sa Tapat na Pamahalaan” Youth Engagement Forum was successfully held on February 27, 2026, in the municipality of Candelaria, Quezon. This initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG), the TAYO Awards Foundation, and the British Embassy Manila. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Local Government of Candelaria, led by Mayor Ogie Suayan, for wholeheartedly hosting this meaningful event.
The forum was filled with knowledge and inspiration, guided by an esteemed lineup of speakers. Youth leaders from the Sangguniang Kabataan and Kaya Natin! Youth shared their insights and experiences regarding community organizing and the continuous advancement of their grassroots advocacies. Further enriching the discussions, Atty. Carlo Ybañez, a trial lawyer, content creator, and musician, discussed the ethical and effective use of social media to promote the public good. Complementing this, Marielle Estoesta, a volunteer from the Open Arms Organization and a TAYO Awardee, delivered an inspiring talk on their mission to assist children in need while providing practical steps for the youth to organize and scale their local initiatives.
It was also a great honor to feature M4GG Convenor Mayor Benjie Magalong, who shared his personal leadership journey. His strong advocacy against corruption, his emphasis on the importance of integrity in public service, and his continuous push for good governance across communities undoubtedly ignited the passion of the young participants in attendance.
We thank our fellow mayors for their active participation and unwavering support for this youth engagement forum. Above all, we express our profound gratitude to the youth of South Luzon who joined us. Together, we look forward to working alongside this generation in forging a Philippines free from corruption and full of opportunities for all.
