The first Tayo ang Good Gov Generation: Youth Engagement Forum was successfully held on January 23, 2026, at the Pangasinan State University (PSU) – Lingayen Campus. The event was attended by over 100 enthusiastic students and youth leaders, alongside several local chief executives serving as members and observers of the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) network.
The program officially commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Jeanilyn L. Villanueva, PSU’s Vice President for Administration and Finance Management. She warmly welcomed the guests and underscored the university’s vital role in shaping future leaders. The U.K. Government also extended its support through Mr. Vince Guina, Political Support Officer of the British Embassy Manila, who expressed his appreciation for the initiative.
The gathering was further highlighted by inspiring video messages from the M4GG Convenors. Mayor Joy Belmonte extended her greetings and full support for the program’s success and its youth participants. Similarly, Mayor Benjie Magalong conveyed his gratitude, recognizing the crucial role of the youth in championing integrity and good governance.
During the sharing sessions, various facets of good governance were explored through the lenses of both public servants and youth advocates. M4GG observer Mayor L.A. Ruanto shared the public sector’s perspective on maintaining accountability and integrity in government service. Addressing digital responsibility, content creator Ms. Andrea Guevarra discussed the ethical use of social media for the public good. Furthermore, Ms. Trisha Mae Teodoro of For our Farmers PH Inc., a TAYO Awardee, highlighted the importance of youth participation in nation-building and supporting the agricultural sector, while several PSU student leaders voiced their advocacies for transparency and active citizen participation.
To translate these learnings into actionable steps, a breakout session was facilitated between the guests and participants. This provided a platform for in-depth discussions on how to effectively advance good governance and embody the ideals of the “GoodGov Generation” within their respective communities.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Pangasinan State University, the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO), and the British Embassy Manila for their unwavering support and commitment to this initiative. The success of this program serves as a testament that hope remains vibrant, and the Filipino youth are fully prepared to take action for the nation’s progress.
