The Manifesto of Good Governance is a foundational document that serves as a formal pledge for member mayors of the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG). By signing this manifesto, Local Chief Executives commit to upholding and championing the core principles of ethical leadership: unwavering integrity, transparency, dedicated public service, active citizen participation, and responsible fiscal management.
Beyond our mayors, this manifesto may also be adopted by organizations and civic groups who share our vision and wish to join the M4GG crusade for accountable governance.
As duly elected Mayors of the Philippines, we solemnly pledge our unwavering commitment to uphold the principles of good governance and to serve the best interests of our constituents. Recognizing that the prosperity and well-being of our communities depend on responsible leadership, we hereby declare this manifesto to guide our actions and decisions throughout our term:
- We vow to maintain the highest standards of integrity and transparency in all aspects of governance. Our actions and decisions will be driven by honesty and accountability, ensuring that the public’s trust in our office remains our foundation for our service.
- We shall embrace a strong public service orientation, putting the welfare and needs of our citizens at the forefront of our agenda. Our decisions will prioritize the common good over personal or political gain.
- We recognize the importance of citizen participation and empowerment. We will actively engage with our communities, encouraging their involvement in the development initiatives in our respective localities.
- Recognizing the essential role that youth play, we commit to actively engaging and empowering young citizens in governance and decision-making. We will invest in youth development programs that foster leadership, critical thinking, and civic participation.
- We pledge to manage public funds prudently and responsibly. Our budget allocations will be directed towards projects and programs that yield the greatest benefit to our constituents, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- We affirm our dedication to upholding the rule of law and respecting the rights and liberties of all citizens. Our administration will be fair and just, ensuring that justice is served without bias or discrimination.
- We will embrace innovation and modern technology to improve governance and public services. By leveraging technological advancements, we aim to streamline processes and make government services more accessible to all.
- We commit to fostering equitable development, leaving no one behind. Our development plans will be designed with sustainability at their core, promoting green initiatives and conservation of natural resources.
